Encyclopedia Britannica's 300 Women Who Changed the World

A random link that might be of interest to you all on 300 Women Who Changed the World: http://www.britannica.com/women. There are some great links to women who studied math and science early on (like the mathematician, Hypatia, mentioned in the opening page). The time line of women through history is a really cool reference!

I can't help but think that it won't be long before we see some Phi Rhos on lists like these!

LEAPing into 2010 National Leadership Conference

It's time to start planning for future events starting with National Leadership Conference 2010! This will be the third national leadership conference we've hosted since the founding of LEAP. The first was held at the University of Dayton in 2006 and the last one was at the University of Kentucky in 2008. National Council is trying to plan the 2010 Conference and first we have to select a location! If your chapter or alumnae association/organization is interested in having us look at your university, please let us know! It's a lot of fun, a great leadership experience for the planners, and awesome exposure of your Chapter to the rest of the Sorority.

Recognizing Our Distinguished Phi Rho Alumnae!

We are taking a new step towards recognizing the accomplishments of our alumnae and we hope that you will help us by nominating alumnae you know for the Distinguished Alumnae Awards! Our goal is to put together a "Who's Who" in PSR and recognize that amazing things that Phi Rhos have done beyond college and the sorority.

For more information, see what we've posted online: http://www.phisigmarho.org/news.htm

Do you know someone who has achieved success in their chosen path? Now's the time to recognize them! Let us know if you have any comments or questions!

PSR Around the Country

Today I checked out our PSR Google Map and was amazed to see how many Phi Rho's are now on there! I think this is a really cool tool to see where everyone is, like alumnae:

Chapters & National Council members:

I'm so glad to see people using it! This is a great way to find out where other Phi Rhos are, National Council, and how close you are to all our Chapters!

Spring Newsletter

I just received my spring newsletter and I know that everyone else has been getting theirs too, so I wanted to welcome any alumnae that just found out about the new blog!

We're trying to post more information more often, so if you have something you'd like to hear about or something you'd like to talk about, let us know!

2009 LEAP Incentive Scholarship

The 2009 LEAP incentive has been awarded to 8 chapters this year. Most chapters will be using their awards to send representatives to 2009 National Convention in Pittsburgh, PA.

Several chapters are reporting that sister involvement and motivation are one of their biggest struggles for their leadership and we hope to be able to offer some creative solutions to this at Convention 2009.

See you all there!

PRL,
Kristen Waters
National Leadership Director

25 Years in Pictures

Over the last month or so, we've been collecting pictures from all chapters to include in various books, photo albums, and the museum at Convention 2009. If you have any great Phi Rho pictures and can scan them in, please send them to vpofprogramming@phisigmarho.org!
