I'm a little behind on providing feedback from the WE09 conference, but I wanted to tell everyone a little about it. This was my first time at a SWE Conference and I really enjoyed it and hope to attend again in the future! I really think this conference was a great opportunity for women to get together and learn from each other. There were people from my own company that I got to know and meet as well. I definitely recommend it to all of the actives and alumnae for the future. A lot of the topics included creating an innovative environment, working with people, and working in a changing environment. The career fair was one of the largest and had a pretty full group.
On Friday evening, about 9 Phi Rhos got together for a mixer and to get to know each other. It was a nice time to relax and chat with some of the sisters, and I hope we can continue to do many of these and more in the future. The girls and I discussed some potential other things we can do to get more involved at the SWE conferences, and here are some of the ideas:
- Sponsor a speaker/workshop
- Host a PSR booth at the career fair
- Sell items at the boutique
- Have a PSR shirt/pin day
- Have PSR members wear ribbons/buttons to ID themselves
- Continue to promote the SWE conference to actives and alumnae
Anyone else have any other ideas? Share here on this blog and look for a SWE involvement survey soon! Let us know and we'll continue to discuss ideas before Orlando next year!
Will you be attending the SWE Conference in Long Beach, CA this Oct 15-17th? Take advantage of this opportunity to network with your fellow Phi Rhos!Meet with other actives and alumnae to get to know Phi Rhos from across the country during this event. PSR President, Nikki Yovanof, will be attending and coordinating plans for a PSR social activity. Please contact Nikki at President@phisigmarho.org if you're interested in attending an event with PSR.
